Systeme Evolutif has been providing Software Testing Services to clients in the UK and Europe since 1989. As one of the first professional testing services companies in the UK it has built up an enviable reputation as a supplier of high-value consulting, specialist testing expertise as well as testing teams to all sectors of industry.
Since its foundation, the Company has witnessed the testing services niche grow from virtually nothing to an established market in the IT and business domain. There are now around perhaps 35,000 ‘career’ testers in the UK alone; certification schemes are well-established here and their influence is growing worldwide; generic and specialist testing conferences are now well established, with new ones appearing monthly; the evergreen BCS SIGiST needless to say, has flourished. In parallel with this, the testing tools market has grown spectacularly and matured.
Systeme Evolutif has contributed to this expansion in all areas. The testing market has some way to go and a new breed of services companies will emerge. This new market will have an expanded focus beyond software testing. Increasingly, the disciplines of project management, project assurance, supplier management, contract management, compliance, regulation as well as development either rely or impinge on testing. Testing will be seen more and more as an information provider, not just a fault detection activity.
Systeme Evolutif have decided to transfer the testing services business to Paul Gerrard, who will lead a new company, Gerrard Consulting and design a range of services aimed at supporting the business stakeholders, project, benefits and risks managers, as well as the more traditional testing-related services.
Systeme Evolutif will continue to exist as a company, working with clients to complete existing projects and will continue to provide selective IT Services and resourcing of IT projects.
The copyright and IPR of all Evolutif’s training, methods, tools and research material will transfer to Gerrard Consulting. A new range of services will be structured into the three familiar areas consulting, training and resourcing, and will focus on Project Assurance, Software Success Improvement and Test Management Infrastructure.
Gerrard Consulting will work with new and existing specialist associates and partnering companies to deliver services designed specifically to meet client needs. Gerrard Consulting will also create a unique tester-development programme having a depth and range and level of hands-on learning unique in the industry. The programme will include focused coaching, mentoring and inspiration and incorporate specific aptitude measurement to assure continuous progress.
Gerrard Consulting will commit a significant effort to research and development of methods, approaches and tools to support these three service streams. In these efforts, collaboration with client organisations, consulting partners and academia will be the key. A regular stream of new papers, articles and products will emerge, setting the foundation for the next generation of project assurance and testing professionals.
